Advanced Clinical Training
in Somatic Movement Therapy
Advanced Clinical Training in Somatics and Dance-Movement Therapy (SMT)
This course is designed as a post graduate level course for Allied Health Professionals wanting to develop their professional capability to work in a Somatic Psychodynamic Movement Therapy manner with their clients.

Entry into the course requires a qualification in movement/dance/bodywork or other Allied Health discipline.
There are 5 Modules associated with this course. Each Module consists of smaller individual subjects that maybe studied as independent short courses for Professional Development.

Module 1 is an introductory module and offers students the chance to explore introductory Somatics, Development Movement, Dance/Movement Therapy & Laban Movement Analysis. Topics include: Introduction to Somatics, Introduction to Laban Movement Analysis, Introduction to Dance/Movement Therapy & Developmental Movement Patterns.

Module 2 is about Somatic Anatomy, Psychodynamic Theory & Theoretical Modelling for Professional Practice , Laban-Barteneiff Fundamentals and topics include: The Somatic Anatomy of Breathing, Attachment Theory,​ Object Relations, Transference and Laban Movement Analysis Applications in Movement Therapy and Somatic Movement Therapy and Counselling,.

- 29th -30th June 2019 (Kiels Mountain, Qld)

Module 3 looks at Kinetic Mirroring & Attunement, Somatic Sensation & Therapeutic Touch and includes the topics: Authentic Movement, Somatic Anatomy of the Upper and Lower Body, Attentive Witnessing, Biopsychology of the nervous system, Psychology of Touch, Somatic Techniques and Movement Therapy for Trauma.
- 24th - 25th August 2019 (Kiels Mountain Qld)

Module 4 is about the Therapeutic Applications for Psychodynamic Movement Therapy and includes the topics: Intersubjectivity, Clinical Practice and Tools for Therapeutic Intervention, Role of the therapist and the role of Somatics and Dance/Movement in therapy.
- 15th - 17th November 2019 (Kiels Mountain, Qld)
Module 5 includes practical units that look at Clinical Applications in the workplace, Case Study discussions/applications and includes self reflection and Assessment presentations. Additional elective topics include: Mobilising the Adrenal Glands, Barre-MindBody Integration

Module 1: $1650-Module 1 maybe undertaken as a stand alone course-includes
all introductory topics required to complete full training
Individual Subject: $ 600 -subjects are components of each module
Subjects may be undertaken individually as Professional Development to meet the requirements of Professional Associations.
